Who is Inland?
Mission Statement: Inland profitably delivers high quality fruit,
in a safe and legal manner, to our
customers while serving the best interests of our growers
and employees. We achieve this by using an effective system
of production, marketing, and sales.
Inland is one of Washington State's premier suppliers
of apples, pears, peaches, nectarines, apricots, cherries, prunes, and plums. In the early
1940s, Inland Fruit & Produce originated in Yakima, Washington as a small
wholesaler of fresh fruit and produce. Today, the company has evolved into one of the
largest privately owned fruit packing and shipping organizations in Washington State. In
1970, the company discontinued produce operations to focus on meeting an increasing demand
for Washington grown apples, pears and soft fruit.
The company employs approximately 500 quality-trained workers that
assist in the production of over 5,000,000 cartons of packed fruit per year. The facility
is capable of storing up to 200,000 bins of fruit. (That would be the equivalent of almost
4,000,000 packed boxes) This type of storage capability allows Inland the ability
to provide customers with a wide range of quality products from the world class growing
regions of Washington State.
Inland makes its home on the Yakama Indian Reservation,
just 8 miles south of Yakima, WA. Conveniently located on Highway 97, in the town of
Wapato, WA. The
Inland facility houses a large six bay loading area with an experienced
crew that makes customer service the top priority of each working day.
At Inland, we believe that quality is an ongoing process.
Fruit quality begins in the field. We know it is important that customer requirements are
clearly understood by our field staff before being addressed at the grower level.
Commitment and communication are crucial throughout all stages of the growing process.
Stage 2 of the quality process takes place in the warehouse. Our
state of the art color sorting system electronically grades product just
prior to packaging. Quality trained workers gently check every
packed box to assure that all quality standards are met.
Stage 3 of the quality process takes place at the dock just prior
to shipment. All orders are set up and inspected by our inspector to ensure that all
product meets the customers requirements.
Inland
Our success depends on our
customer's success. If you have any ideas, suggestions, or special requests please share
them with us. We would love to hear them!
What can Inland do for you?
There are several
Washington based fruit shippers who have earned a reputation for quality. Each one of
those shippers specialize in a different variety of product. While one shipper may
specialize in red or golden delicious apples, another may specialize in granny smith or
gala apples. Some shippers focus on pears and some specialize in cherries.
Through the years, Inland has developed an outstanding
reputation by supplying customers with a variety of quality products. That means that
Inland customers receive the benefit of one stop shopping. Inland can meet
your quality requirements and also help in reducing the amount of time spent placing
orders. Our goal is to be a user-friendly company. User friendly to buyers, receivers,
motor carriers, and the end consumer.
