Golden Delicious:
This variety has the flavor that many feel an apple is supposed to have. A large
yellow apple with a sweet and well balanced flavor makes it perfect for fresh eating,
salads, and processing in applesauce or pies. The skin is so tender and thin that many
recipes dont require it being peeled. The Golden Delicious is the preferred
all-purpose cooking apple because its firm, white flesh retains its shape and
mellow flavor when baked or cooked.

eaten fresh, but when cooked or baked, this variety ranks close to the bottom of the list.
